FAQ’s
How does an EV charger work?
An EV charger or EVSE(Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) provides electrical current safely to your electric vehicle’s onboard charger which charges the vehicle’s battery. The EV charger communicates with the vehicle through the charging port to monitor the state of charge and stop the session when the batteries are full.
In addition, commercial charging stations provide additional benefits to station owners and users. They allow access control, accept payments, monitor uptime via remote networks and much more.

Which connector type do I need?
In North America, EV’s use either the SAE J1772 plug—also known as a J plug— or the NACS plug—also known as a Tesla plug . Previously Tesla was the only manufacturer using the NACS connector type for their vehicles, but the EV industry is slowly shifting to NACS as the new standard connector type.
Even shifting to a new standard connector there will still be a high demand for the J1772 plug as EV manufacturers are still producing vehicles in addition to the millions of EV’s already on the road. Adapters are readily available which make charging with either connector type possible.
What does OCPP mean?
Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) is an application protocol for communication between the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station and a central management system, also known as a charging station network. EvoCharge charging stations run on the EvoCharge network or your preffered network provider. Unlike other non-OCPP EV charging systems that require you to use their specific network only, EvoCharge’s OCPP stations give you the freedom to choose the network and software you want to use. Learn more about OCPP and the EvoCharge Network.
